The SPS Top-Team Award – Modular to suit your needs
Course Structure
To earn the SPS Top-Team Award your team must complete 8 modules in total. Of
these 8 modules the 4 compulsory ‘Core Modules’ must be completed and then 4 of
the elective modules. In this way you can design the content of your learning
to suit your particular business situation. Each module takes a day. The scheduling
of the module days is arranged to suit you.
The core modules are Organisational Behaviour, Strategic Management, Financial
Management and People Management.
Strategic Management
Strategic management is about how to develop and drive the scope and direction
of the organization. What is our purpose? What are our objectives? How will we
achieve them? What core competencies do we have? What resources do we need to
succeed? How can we meet the changing demands of our customers while achieving
the expectations of our stakeholders?
Organizational Behaviour
What are the team members’ personality types and how do they fit into the team?
What are their strengths – how can these utilized? What are their weaknesses –
how can they be overcome. What is your company culture – how can it be improved?
Financial Management
This module covers basic financial and accounting techniques. It is not designed
to make everyone an accountant but to give them an understanding of the subject
so that they can appreciate the relevance and advantages of sound financial management.
It also covers project and acquisition evaluation techniques to improve decision
making.
People Management
This module is about recognizing and managing any company’s key resource, the
people who work for it. How do you match your human resources to your company
goals and objectives? How to motivate your people and improve your staff retention?
Once these core modules are complete, the elective modules can be selected
Strategic Marketing and Sales
This module starts with the strategic marketing plan which links your customer
needs to your company strategy. It then covers the implementation of your sales
strategy covering subjects such as professional sales management, key account
management and channel sales management.
Operations Management
You will learn how to develop an operations strategy for your organisation, identifying
key performance Indicators (KPI) for each area of its activities and how these
contribute to the overall business goals.
Supply Chain and Logistics
This module will give you an understanding of the key role that supply chain
management plays in gaining and sustaining competitive advantage. It covers how
the supply chain is links customer needs back to the base components of a product
or service.
Innovation Management
This module covers the innovation process linked to customer needs and overall
business goals. You will learn how to use a structured approach to innovation
management which ensures that good ideas are generated and that the ones which
provide best value are taken to completion on-time and on-budget.
Project Management
This module covers the basic tools and techniques of project management, how
a team can define, scope and schedule a project to bring it to a successful completion
Change Management
This module helps you understand how organisations develop and preserve strategic
capabilities whilst going through a strategic change process. It covers the various
techniques which can be employed to implement change and goes into detail of a
proven technique based on Stakeholder requirements, process improvement and performance
measurement.
Managing Mergers and Acquisitions
This module covers the leadership challenges posed by mergers and acquisitions.
You learn how to identify and value potential acquisition targets, how to negotiate
the transaction. How to manage the post-acquisition phase by gaining stakeholder
support
