Building a Successful Team

Do’s and Don’ts

There comes a time in every growing company when it is right to involve others in creating and managing the next business phase – consider the following:

Do you:
  • actually need a team?
  • manage the team’s development and activity?
  • set goals and objectives AS A TEAM?
  • clarify who does what, when and how?
  • manage the team so everyone feels part of the decision process?
  • invite the right people into the team?
  • expect the team to gel from day one and risk disappointment?
  • dominate the team, intentionally or unconsciously?
  • manage the team too tightly and crush creativity?
  • let the team feel too exclusive and alienate other parts of the organisation?
  • let individuals take credit for the team’s achievements?
  • reward success and learn from failures?

Remember, you can’t win a team game on your own

Collectively, SPS partners have decades of experience developing and mentoring team leaders, senior managers and directors. We can work with you to develop your delegation skills and your team.

We would be happy to demonstrate our capabilities in a free and informal meeting.
